Hello there. I’m Meg!
I’m a 26-year-old gal living, working, and creating things in Central MN.
A lot of my daytime (and some evening) hours are devoted to my job, working in Arts Administration. I was an English major/Art minor in college, but Arts Admin is where I really wanted to end up – so lucky me! My 9-5 consists of a mix of operations (gettin’ the day-to-day things done so our department runs smoothly), managing performing arts events & 30+ awesome college student-employees, and marketing/grant writing (building ads, brochures, emails, doin’ social media stuff, and writing grant proposals to garner our department $$). All in all, it’s really fun and rewarding work. When someone asks “What do you DO?,” I boil it all down to: “I help make art happen.” It’s true. I’m lucky.
I live in a TEENY-TINY house (we moved into a MUCH bigger place!) in a VERY SMALL town in Central MN with my boyfriend Pete and our silly cat, Leo. It’s very near the same town where I went to college. I graduated in 2009 and just never left the area. Well, that’s because of my awesome job (which is actually AT my alma mater) and the fact that I really do like it here.
I ALSO like thrifty good deals, granny-chic home decor, yoga, coffee, and gettin’ artsy. My preferred artsy mediums are oil painting and mixed media/collage. I also have a strange love for organized spaces, parentheses (can’t you tell?), Elizabethan England, figuring out web-code, and personal finance. Like the title “Meg-Mix” suggests, I hope that this will be a place to explore writing about a mix of my favorite things! I hope you enjoy my writing, and please feel free to drop me a line!
