portrait-ized again!

Hey friends! I took a personal day from work today because Pete and I hit up the Atmosphere concert last night. What a great show! Slug absolutely killed it. What a storyteller and melodic guy. I was so so impressed. I was banking on a late night, but we actually got home around 11:00pm, way earlier than I expected. Regardless, I still kept my day off to get a few things done around the house and catch up on important items on my to-do list like checking out the local thrifts and watching the rest of Downton Abbey Season 2 (hurry! it’s still online until march 7 HERE).

For starters on my day off, I framed this awesome piece of art I just received from artist Nan Lawson. I’ve enjoyed her quirky drawing style for a long time and signed up for her custom portrait list almost a year ago. She got back to me just a couple of weeks ago (girl is BUSY, which I can’t knock – artists work hard, yo!) and came up with this great image. I love how it so subtly yet accurately captures us as a couple (and Leo too)!

Now it’s resting on our credenza next to our other funny portrait. Today I also went out a purchased some succulents to fill my mama doe and baby fawn planters to complete the little grouping.

While out and about I also scored another kitschy Minnesota plate (this one had a plate hanger, too!) and a pretty vintage tin. At one thrift store, all I found were clothes. Nothing too exciting, but I did manage to walk away with a pair of dress pants, a jersey dress for summer, two cardigans and a pretty scarf for under $25.

Well goodness. The day just flew by. I did manage to get some house cleaning, closet arranging, and black-bean-feta-cheese-cabbage-slaw taco making in, too. Hope you all had a great start to your week. I’m going to try to keep up with the blogging over the next few days. Not an easy feat for me, but I’ll do my best!
